HTC One

HTC unveiled their long rumored flagship smartphone HTC One. There was a lot of hype even before it got released and as the official specifications show it is something that's worth all that hype. It is offering some features that are new to the smartphone world. As we expect from a flagship of a company like HTC these days, it is packed with a Full HD Super LCD3 display. But they have reduced the size of the display to 4.7", as opposed to the 5.0" displays we saw in recent Full HD smartphone displays, making its pixel density higher than any smartphone out there.

It is packed with a 1.7Ghz quad-core Krait 300 processor, which is on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 chipset. The VGA is a Adreno 320 one and it also has a 2GB of ram memory, making this the best smartphone, specification wise, to be released yet. It has all the connectivity features that are available for smartphones including LTE and NFC. The camera of this phone is a 4MP one. Yes you read it right, it has a 4MP camera which has UltraPixels. UltraPixels are larger than the normal pixels that we see in modern smartphones, making it a much better camera in low lights. But it doesn't reduce the quality of the normal pictures too. It is also capable of recording 1080p videos with HDR technology, which was introduced to the smartphones earlier this year by Sony.

The secondary camera is a 2.1MP one which is also capable of recording 1080p videos and also have the HDR technology. HTC One also supports GLONASS, the Russian alternative to GPS, while supporting GPS. The memory options are limited to 32GB and 64GB and you can't expand it later due to the lack of a memory card slot. All in all we could say that this would make a tough competition to all the flagships that are going to get released by other companies. The release date of this phone is not yet confirmed but it is not going to take too long for sure, with Xperia Z already in the battle.

Sony Unveils Xperia Z and Xperia ZL

Sony makes some of the most attractive smartphones in the world. But when it came to hardware specifications they were always behind of Samsung, HTC and some other leading manufacturers. But this time they have given an answer to that by introducing their latest flagships that packs the latest technology up-to-date. These two flagships caused lot of hype because of the leaked specification sheets and photos that flew around the internet. But today Sony officially unveiled there two new flagships at the CES 2013.

Xperia Z

The two unveiled models Sony Xperia Z, previously rumored as Xperia Yuga, and Xperia ZL have almost the same hardware specifications ,though there is a difference in the design, and the revealed specifications show us a lot of promise. The difference between these two phones is that Xperia Z is made with IP57 certification which makes it dust-proof and water-proof. On the other hand Xperia ZL doesn't have the IP57 certification. Both the phones pack the latest Snapdragon S4 pro chipset and 1.5Ghz Quad-Core Krait processors,(First time Sony uses quad-core processors.) and the latest Adreno 320 GPU. Both the devices have 2GB rams and all the connectivity technologies possible.

Xperia ZL

The other interesting part is the display. Both of these devices carry 1080p 5 inch LED-backlit displays that have a pixel density of 441ppi. The displays are also powered by the latest BRAVIA Engine2. Also these phones carry a 13MP camera (capable of 1080p video recording) that has the EXYNOS RS censor which would make these one of the best camera-phones available. Both of these devices come with Android 4.1 JellyBean out of the box and are expected to be released on March. Pricing for these two devices are not revealed yet. But as per the specifications we can say that it is not going to be a cheap device at all. As we think this time Sony has done it right and if these devices get released at the right time they would do great in the smartphone world.

Ubuntu for Phones gets Announced

First of all we would like to wish all our viewers a very happy new year. The first news that we have in the very beginning of this new year is a very good one for all the FOSS lovers. Ubuntu has always been an good alternative for Windows OS because of its user friendliness and the fast responsiveness and best of all for being free. Now Canonical, Ubuntu's maker, is also planning to enter the smartphone world by introducing their OS to the mobile devices. It would use the same kernel and drivers as the Android OS as both are based on Linux kernel.

The new Ubuntu for phones would emphasize more on the use of Hand-Gestures to navigate around. A long swipe from the left would go to all your apps while a short swipe would show you the favorite apps. It would also use HTML 5 heavily. The apps that are for Android won't work on this new OS as it doesn't use the Dalvik Virtual Machine that Android uses. But if Ubuntu for phones gain popularity the applications for this OS would also grow as it did with Android OS. We have to wait and see till the next year to see if this would give a competition to the smartphone superiority of Android. We should also not forget that there is also the hopeful Jolla Sailfish OS that would also be a tough competition by the time. The devices that carry Ubuntu for phones would likely be shipped early next year.

Samsung Unveils Galaxy Grand

Samsung is expanding their Galaxy Range in a consistent phase. Some of these devices become successful and some become failures. It is up to you to decide whether this new addition to the Galaxy range is going to be a hit or a flop. They have named it as Galaxy Grand. Sounds grand for sure. But is it really a device that would take forward the grandeur of Galaxy Line-up. Though we can't say anything about its actual performances yet, as it is due to be released on the first quarter of next year, we could make some assumptions about how it would do in the competitive Android world.

There are two Galaxy Grand models ,I9080 and I9082 and the only difference between these two is that the latter one is a dual-sim one. Other than that both are identical. Lets check out the revealed specifications of these devices.

Samsung Galaxy Grand Specifications

Networks: 2G: GSM 3G: HSDPA

Display: 5.0" 480x800pixels, 187ppi.

Processor: Dual-Core 1.2 Ghz

GPU: Not Specified

Memory: 1GB ram, 8GB storage, microSD slot.

Camera: 8 MP with 1080p video recording.

Secondary Camera: 2MP

Connectivity: GPRS, EDGE, WLAN, Bluetooth, HSPA.

OS: Android 4.1.2, Jelly Bean

Weight: 162 g.

Battery: 2100 mAh Li-Ion.

As we could see, with the above specifications this phone would not be a high-end device. We could assume that Samsung is trying to provide their loyal customers a Galaxy Note like feeling on a budget. The display is not up to par according to today's standards. Now a days even small budget android devices have more resolution than this device. As per the revealed specification, this device doesn't support NFC. The processor would most probably be a Exynos 1.2Ghz dual-core one which was used in Galaxy SII. How these devices would do in the smartphone world is still a question and that would be answered in the near future.

Sony Xperia E and Xperia E dual

Sony added two new entry level smartphones to their Xperia Line-up today by introducing Xperia E and Xperia E dual. Both phones have identical specifications except for the number of active sims you can use. Xperia E comes with 4.1 ,Jelly Bean, out of the box and Xperia E dual comes with 4.0 ,ICS, with the promise of an update to Jelly Bean later. Both phones have a 1 Ghz cortex-A5 processor, Adreno 200 gpu and they both come with a 512 MB ram and a 4GB internal memory with a microSD slot.

Lenovo P770 comes with a 3500mAh battery.

Modern day smartphone manufacturers really don't care about the battery-life of their phones that had been a crucial factor in the old mobile phones. Except for the Motorola Razr MAXX HD that was introduced recently, most of the smartphones don't last more than two days of battery-life even you are not a hardcore user. Now Lenovo has also gone to the battery game and introduced their latest product P770, that has a 3500 mAh battery, which has 200mAh than Razr MAXX. The powerful battery promises the user to have a talk time of 29 hours and the standby time of more than a month. The phone also have some good specifications and here are some of them.

Mercedes Benz AMG SLS made its debut in year 2010 and since then it is somewhat of a dream car to most of us. Now the Mercedes-AMG has introduced their latest update to the prestigious SLS line-up, AMG SLS Black Series. The new Black Series is giving more power and it is promised to give more performance than its predecessors. It is also wider and faster and as the chairmen of the Mercedes-AMG says this would give ' pure, unadulterated 'Driving Performance''.

This beast is capable of accelerating up to 60 mph just in 3.5 seconds and has a top speed of 196 mph (315 kmph). The curb weight of this vehicle is 1550 kg which makes it lighter than the regular SLS. HTC DROID DNA Gets Released

DROID DNA is the latest release of the Taiwanese tech-giant, HTC. It is a Verizon exclusive device but the images of the global version of this device, HTC Deluxe, is already out. This is one of the fastest, if not the fastest, Android device up-to-date. This beast carries more performance than the most of the tablets out their in the market. The specifications of this would make any tech savvy person's mouth water. Here are the specifications of DROID DNA.

The only thing that a person could point a finger here is the lack of a memory card slot. But yet, for me, this is the ultimate phone yet. The Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset with the quad-core Krait processor, the 2GB ram and the Adreno 320 GPU would make any application run smoothly on this beauty. Here is the comparison between the quadrant benchmark results of Galaxy Note 2 and the DROID DNA.

As we could see, this is possibly one of the most powerful smartphones yet. Though this is only a Verizon device yet, we hope that the global release, HTC Deluxe, would also be available soon. Till then, HTC Droid DNA is the smartest one in the Android family.

AMD Unveils, LiveBox, their Mini PC

Computers have come a long way since they were first introduced. From large main frames to small net books that we use today computers have developed in a way that we can't even imagine sometimes. AMD, which normally manufactures processors and VGAs have gone out of their scope and unveiled their latest creation which is a Mini PC. Normally what you get in your mind when mentioned a Mini PC is a small version of normal tower desktops. But this thing is not small. It is tiny. Actually you could carry it in your hand. It is plugged directly into the socket and it also has 3G capabilities.

The hard drive of this is 64GB SSD drive and it also have 2 USB 2.0 ports, 1 HDMI slot, 1 Ethernet port and a SD card slot. Apple Unveils iPad Mini

Apple unveiled the iPad mini which was rumored for a long time. It is a 7.9" tab opposite to its sibling iPad which is a 9.7" one. The all new iPad mini is powered by an older A5 processor which was used in the Apple iPad2. It is a 1Ghz dual core ARM cortex A9 processor. PowerVR SGX543MP2 graphics and 512MB RAM. The new Lightning port introduced with the iPhone 5 is here too. The iPad mini has a 5MP camera which is capable of 1080p video recording and a 720p secondary camera at the front. The display has more pixel density than its siblings as it has the same 1024x768 IPS LCD display which was used in larger iPads.

As usually Apple gives us a non expandable memory for the iPad mini which ranges from 16GB to 64GB. The base 16GB model would be US$329 and the 64GB one with Wi-Fi plus Cellular would be US$659. iPad mini would be released to the public on 2nd of November and we have to wait and see if this would be a hit among the public against Apple founder late Steve Jobs' predictions who said there would be no real-life application for 7 inch tabs.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07711075558842738259noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1906510958748233224.post-54720671530980642362012-10-19T19:10:00.000+05:302012-10-19T19:10:46.223+05:30Sony User?
