Sony Unveils Xperia Z and Xperia ZL

Sony Unveils Xperia Z and Xperia ZL

Sony makes some of the most attractive smartphones in the world. But when it came to hardware specifications they were always behind of Samsung, HTC and some other leading manufacturers. But this time they have given an answer to that by introducing their latest flagships that packs the latest technology up-to-date. These two flagships caused lot of hype because of the leaked specification sheets and photos that flew around the internet. But today Sony officially unveiled there two new flagships at the CES 2013.
Xperia Z

The two unveiled models Sony Xperia Z, previously rumored as Xperia Yuga, and Xperia ZL have almost the same hardware specifications ,though there is a difference in the design, and the revealed specifications show us a lot of promise. The difference between these two phones is that Xperia Z is made with IP57 certification which makes it dust-proof and water-proof. On the other hand Xperia ZL doesn't have the IP57 certification. Both the phones pack the latest Snapdragon S4 pro chipset and 1.5Ghz Quad-Core Krait processors,(First time Sony uses quad-core processors.) and the latest Adreno 320 GPU. Both the devices have 2GB rams and all the connectivity technologies possible.
Xperia ZL

The other interesting part is the display. Both of these devices carry 1080p 5 inch LED-backlit displays that have a pixel density of 441ppi. The displays are also powered by the latest BRAVIA Engine2. Also these phones carry a 13MP camera (capable of 1080p video recording) that has the EXYNOS RS censor  which would make these one of the best camera-phones available. Both of these devices come with Android 4.1 JellyBean out of the box and are expected to be released on March. Pricing for these two devices are not revealed yet. But as per the specifications we can say that it is not going to be a cheap device at all. As we think this time Sony has done it right and if these devices get released at the right time they would do great in the smartphone world.

Ubuntu To Enter the Game

Ubuntu for Phones gets Announced

First of all we would like to wish all our viewers a very happy new year. The first news that we have in the very beginning of this new year is a very good one for all the FOSS lovers. Ubuntu has always been an good alternative for Windows OS because of its user friendliness and the fast responsiveness and best of all for being free. Now Canonical, Ubuntu's maker, is also planning to enter the smartphone world by introducing their OS to the mobile devices. It would use the same kernel and drivers as the Android OS as both are based on Linux kernel.

The new Ubuntu for phones would emphasize more on the use of Hand-Gestures to navigate around. A long swipe from the left would go to all your apps while a short swipe would show you the favorite apps. It would also use HTML 5 heavily. The apps that are for Android won't work on this new OS as it doesn't use the Dalvik Virtual Machine that Android uses. But if Ubuntu for phones gain popularity the applications for this OS would also grow as it did with Android OS. We have to wait and see till the next year to see if this would give a competition to the smartphone superiority of Android. We should also not forget that there is also the hopeful Jolla Sailfish OS that would also be a tough competition by the time. The devices that carry Ubuntu for phones would likely be shipped early next year.
